I know you have probably all been on the edge of your seats, wondering when I would write another ultra-enlightening blog post. But lest you think (and you probably don’t) that I haven’t been writing…I have been, it’s just not here. Here are a few updates.
- The main reason I haven’t been blogging is that I’ve actually been working on my thesis and the good news is, I’m over halfway done! Well, I should say I’m over halfway done with the draft, which will still require editing, etc… but I’m excited to have made so much progress.
- I had my first academic book review published in Studies in Christian Ethics. Book reviews don’t “count for much” when it comes to academic writing, but it helps to get something out there if you want to eventually get published in the future.
- I recently wrote two very similar blog posts for other blogs — One on Rivulet Collective, and one at Missio Alliance. Both feature my usual refrain about how capitalism forms us, and also include my latest favorite example: The Best Self Co. whose mission statement reads, “We are BestSelf Co, human performance junkies who translate the success, strategies, and habits of high performance into meaningful yet simple tools that will guide you to become your Best Self.” Read one of the posts to find out why I dislike it so much.
- Finally, this week was kind of a big deal for me. N.T. Wright has been in Aberdeen giving the Gifford Lectures and Monday he came to our Theological Ethics seminar and I was one of the students who presented a response to his work for the discussion! I enjoyed it and I think he found it fascinating and challenging.
